Just pulled the cork on this one. Color is very dark purple. The nose has some black plums and blackberry. The palate is a little sharp right now but some soft blackberries, a nice amount of acidity that keeps it from being to heavy on the palate. Still some tannins, but just enough to let you know the're there and are nicely balanced against the acidity. The finish isn't super long, but no short either. So far, this is a pleasant LBV.

A couple hours on and the nose has a strong black licorice that is now dominating the black plums and blackberries. The palate is very silky and no longer sharp. There is some red cherries laced with a little smokeness and gravel, and a very slight touch of mint which is very unusual but nice. This is a very easy drinker and one that is hard to stop. There are no major faults and this is a very good example of a filtered LBV. 87-88 points.

I consider this one to be my convincer to all non-port-experienced guys and it worked out well so far. I think it s a pleaser and - as you already mentioned - is hard to stop.

Andy & Axel,

I'm glad you guys enjoy this one, and to be fair, so do I. I would have to add I find it has an overly dry aftertaste, and is generally a little sterile and flat. But for what it is, and at that sort of price, it is a fair companion.

Alan & Axel,

I agree, Graham's LBVs have always been a favorite of mine for a nicely priced filtered LBV. Graham's seems to have a bit more complexity than other filtered LBVs in the same category.
