1999 Warre Colheita (bottled 2013)

Bottled 2013.
Deep copper coloured, 60% opaque. Muted nose, showing a little iodine and toffee. Balanced entry, powerful levels of acidity that become slightly painful on the mid-palate. Tastes singed, slightly burnt coffee or caramelised cranberries. A big palate, some faint tannins and a large but not wholly enjoyable set of sour citric flavours daminates. Ouch! on the aftertaste as the acid burns on its way down, before delivering a rubber-band finish of good length. I can't believe that this bottle is representative. If it is, this is not a port I would choose to drink again. NR (or 70/100 if this is a typical bottle).
