Bottled by Dirk Niepoort, who refreshed the port by adding 4-5% of the Niepoort 1945 colheita.

Deep red in colour, rusty brown on the rim and cloudy. Aged, slightly oxidised nose but quite pronounced, full of caramel and soft toffee. Dark treacle on the palate; very much an oxidised flavour profile but pleasant - with lots of coffee and some candied cherries. A concentrated aftertaste with a great set of flavours and a lovely tertiary evolution on the finish. The finish has an amazing length of persistent coffee, but very dry. Served blind this was guessed to be a 1927 vintage port from a minor shipper. 90/100.

Very concentrated with prominent orange peel and espresso flavours. Good length that leaves the cheeks tingling and the tongue watering. Lovely - 92

On the showing of a small sample left over for day 2, this could have benefitted from a longer decant (and the aromas from the empty bottle dominated my living room for 24+ hours)
