1997 Fonseca

Slight cloudiness to the centre, 60% opaque. Soft bubblegum nose with a hint of green wood. Gentle palate, rather empty - is there a hint of bottle stink, of burnt rubber? Quite light in texture. Hot aftertaste with lots of lively cinnamon on the finish. Not an impressive showing - incredibly closed with dry tannins dominating the subdued fruit. 85/100. Drunk at the BBR Port Walk on 28 November 2013.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
