Chosen specifically by WS1 for the symmetry of this being the first port shared in 2013 and the last port shared.
UK bottled by Newcastle Breweries. Deep red centre, burnt orange rim; 50% opaque. Rather closed on the nose initially, but does show a lovely subdued fruitiness that is slightly dirty. Lovely thick texture, deep and powerful palate with concentrated bitter-sweet orange and hints of burnt toffee. Great palate. Big aftertaste, then a massive burst of flavour on the finish, but sadly the finish fades off very quickly. Very enjoyable, but less impressive than the 1947 drunk alongside. 91/100. Drunk 28-Dec-13 at this dinner. Decanting time N/K.
