2011 Quinta da Romaneira

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

From a half bottle. Opaque, youthful purple. Gentle, sweet blueberry fruit on the nose with a lovely herbaceousness. Initially subdued on entry, but a powerful acidity takes hold under a generous and opulent fruit. The tannins are ripe and dry, like toasted cocoa beans. The whole giving a wonderful complexity. The acidity distorts the aftertaste, but leads to a long sweet blueberry and licorice finish. Fine port. 90/100. Drunk 29-Jan-14. Decanted 24 hours.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
