1980 Taylor

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Imperial College stock. Deep red, rich in colour and attractive in appearance; 80% opaque. Lovely sweet redcurrants on the nose, delicate and attractive. Great texture on the palate, very rich in flavour and with terrific balance. Full of ripe, sweet fruit on the palate and with delicious dark chocolate tannins. Mouth filling and with lovely layers of flavour. Some floral tones show with air and the Taylor heat shows and dominates the aftertaste, before a long and delicious dark cherry and black chocolate finish of immense length takes hold and persists. Very impressive showing, possibly the best bottle of Taylor 1980 that I have drunk. 92/100. Drunk 15-Feb-14. Decanted 2 hours.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
