GC94. First glass not good, with unremarkable nose and stringent palate. Glass substitution (at Bordeaux Index about 12% of my glasses were not clean) revealed a GC94 that was much thicker and better, and actually very good. But it seems that coming to the second glass late in the evening rather curtailed my note taking. Sigh.

75% opacity, rim a little cloudy. Nose not giving much, hint of chocolate. On the palate, not much heat, progressed nicely from front to back, nice balance, fruit coming through. Finish reasonably long and dry at the end.

Lighter than the SW and very chocolaty.

24 hour decant. 75%, plummy colour with a little orange. Nose brings a little spirit, light fruit without hamminess, a tiny bit citric. Mouth has alcohol, thinness, orange, nothing very much in the late palate, but nothing wrong; perhaps a little rubber at the end.

Not sure. I got a lot of different rubbers that night.

Sorry for confusion And was very good to meet you on Tuesday. See you again in April I believe. I'm actually in Belfast on Monday night now as it turns out. I must look ahead and try and plan being there when there is something port related in the offing!

Deep red with a hint of maturity on the medium rim. Gentle blackcurrant fruit on the nose. A lovely texture on the medium-bodied palate with modest fruit and enormous tannins all over the mid-palate. This softens slightly but lacks the density of fruit to balance the tannins at the moment. Lovely aftertaste and a massive finish. This is potentially a great port, but needs to be tried again in 10 years. 90/100. 23 hour decant.
