2003 Taylor LBV
Decanted off a small amount of very fine sludge. Deep red in colour with magenta in the rim; opaque. Warm blackcurrant and raspberries on the nose, sweetened with soft caramel. A satisfying mouthfilling presence, sweet fruit but a powerful streak of acidity; slightly one dimensional. Once the initial fierce burst of acidity has gone the aftertaste is extremely impressive, lasting well over a minute and packing so many different layers of chocolate, cranberry and ripe tannins that it has to be experienced to be believed. Very fine filtered port that has benifitted from the extra year of aging and is probably as good as it will get. 89/100. Decanted 22 hours.
