1982 Warre LBV

A blind sample from JDAW. Mature red appearance, a gold / orange rim; 40% opaque. Lovely nose of crushed redcurrants and fresh-picked daisies. Immediate soft fruit on the palate but with a mace spiciness. Strong acidity gives and overlaying freshness and the tannins appear to have softened but are still green and powerful. An interesting palate, powerful components but lacking in harmony. Smoked honey on the big finish, which is full of bitter-sweet cranberry and charcoal tannins. Rather more sour than I normally prefer. 85/100.
Very difficult to hazard a guess as to what this might be. It could be a forward 1991 or a reticent 1960. Finally guessed to be a Taylor 1983 LBV.
