NV Niepoort Tawny (Senior Tawny)

I was asked to organise a Port tasting by the Northern Ireland Wine & Spirits Institute, and decided that it would be worthwhile to taste some wood-aged categories that are harder to find in Ireland. So, after much research and many, many emails, we ended up with the following line-up (supplier in brackets):

20% opacity, a light golden brown with a hint of orange, good gloopy legs. Nose was full of sweet fruit, really sugary. Very smooth entry, sweet caramel. Very gentle heat builds and sustains with quite a long finish with some acidity. Nice balance, and meaty!
