30% brown-red, good legs. Nose a bit odd, meaty again, like the T66. Lovely smooth sugar entry, heat builds a little through middle, to a soft caramel finish. very nice in the end!

W66. Red, 50% opaque. Nose was recorded as “better earlier”, but I didn’t take a note earlier. Sigh. Palate: lovely sweet start but ending bitter. That bitterness mostly mocha. Youth still in palate.

Pale brick red, 30% opaque. Surprisingly youthful on the nose showing lots of fresh sweet redcurrants. Nice texture in the mouth but not with the thickness of some of the other ports from the vintage. Still very youthful with lots of fruit and lots of liveliness; there is a lovely complexity and youthful fragrance on the palate. Really fragrant and elegant but with a wonderful balance. A long and lively finish. This is a wonderful port with a long life ahead of it. Really lovely and elegant. 93/100. Decanted 6 hours.

This was a deep pink with a hint of crimson. A juicy nose with some herby, stemmy notes. The mouth is great – it gives the Fonseca a run for its money in the soft, old plums stakes. The spice is like apple pie and cinnamon, or maybe just baked cinnamon. I liked this.
