1994 Croft

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Most evolved appearance of the three 1994 TFP ports shown at this tasting, more brick colour than the others. Gentle nose, quite muted showing just a little bruised apple and toffee. Satin texture but a hint of violets on the edge of the tongue. Gentle fruit on the palate, plentiful but with modest depth. This has a lovely freshness to the fruit that is missing from the Taylor or the Fonseca but without the depth and concentration that those show. Caramel on the sweet aftertaste and then a blackcurrant and bitter black chocolate finish that has good volume. 92/100. Drunk 14-May-14
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
