2009 Fonseca

Powerful nose of grass and freshly picked mint leaves. Round and smooth texture, like biting into bubble chocolate. Huge tannins, bigger than in Taylor's 2009, dominate the lush fruit. Very forward and less subtle than Taylor but may have a longer life due to the size of the tannins. Huge tannic aftertaste but this is always balanced by lurking fruit. This will rival the Taylor as a legendary wine for our grandchildren. 95/100. Drunk 14-May-14

Last week picked up a case of 6 of this wine (OWC) for a fairly reasonable price (around the €55 per bottle, delivery included). Bought it on a bit of a whim, wasn't planning to do so, but the price seemed right. Came here to check tasting notes, wasn't disappointed. Might open one in 2029, just to see what's going on :D
