Bottled 1979. Brick red, 40% opaque. Bruised fruit and nettles on the nose with the rosemary patina of age starting to show. Gentle sweet fruit on entry and a pleasant texture. Wonderful mature fruit on the palate with a hint of the rosemary of age and still some soft tannins that combine to give a lovely palate. Hot on the aftertaste, then a lingering finish of rose-hip syrup. Exquisite and elegant, this is a refined port albeit rather lightweight. One to drink soon. 86/100. Drunk 24-Apr-14 at BFT5.

This is the LBV that Dirk Niepoort and Nick Delaforce describe as 'sexy'. This instance of it was 20% opaque, a slightly orangey light pink. Jellied nose, with a medicinal note. This was bitter and jagged and not as good as the bottle I tasted with AW77, my own Supreme Commander, and Nick, in February 2014. A shame, there's not much of this about.
