1990 was a difficult year for producers, the year had high yields and quotas were high, but when these came to be bottled and sold the economy of the world was in a poor condition and the market for port was very difficult.

Bottled 1994. Deep red at the core, 80% opaque. Bottle stink dominates the nose. Smooth and silky in texture but little fruit showing on the palate under the bottle stink; there are some gentle tannins still alive. Soft coffee shows on the finish with green fruit and lots of chocolate. 84/100. Drunk 24-Apr-14 at BFT5.

This was the year that ageing in pipes was ended, I wrote, but I don't know what exactly I meant by this.
30%, quite dark, an odd nose with a stinky rubberiness; bitter and astringent with coffeeish notes.
