2003 Quinta do Noval

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Deep red, opaque. Subdued nose, a bit of hard swirling releases some reluctant sweet fruit. The fruit shows better on entry and shows well on the mid-palate. Dusty tannins slowly coalesce - and keep growing to huge levels! The huge roasted-nut tannins and lingering fruit develop a lovely aftertaste. Despite the size of the tannins, this has surprisingly good balance and is a real brooding monster that needs to be held for at least another 20 years. Really impressive. 93/100. Drunk 24-Apr-14 at BFT5.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
