2009 Taylor LBV

Bottled 2014. Youthful in colour. Hard on the nose, some fruit but very restrained. Slow to develop on the palate but eventually shows plenty of fruit and astonishingly powerful tannins to the extent of being rather unbalanced at the moment. However, the sheer tanninc power does lead to a great volume finish. It will be interesting to see how this develops over the next year or two. 87/100. Drunk 24-Apr-14 at BFT5.
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!

I have noted recent vintages of Taylors LBV ports to be quite smooth; more of a drink now category. This sounds atypical and hopefully a change in style. I shall look out for it as it filters through the distribution chain.
