1997 Sandeman Vau

Slight bricking on the narrow, transparent rim. A developed nose of dusty fruit, mature and attractive. Sweet fruit dominates the entry and soft tannins give a lovely structure to this mid-weight wine. Lingering and attractive finish. Enjoyable candied fruit is the lasting memory of this port which is drinking nicely now or will hold for another decade or so before starting its decline. 88/100. Drunk 24-Apr-14 at BFT5.
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!
