1970 Dalva

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

From a bottle with a mid-shoulder fill. Bronze in colour, 50% opaque. Gentle volatile acidity on the nose, prunes and raisins. Fully mature fruit on the palate, sweet and flavoursome with tannins fully integrated but a nicely balanced acidity. The VA just provides a layer of complexity. A slight burn on the aftertaste, then a lovely burnt raisin finish of tremendous length. Enjoyable mid-quality port that is fully mature. 86/100. Drunk 27-Apr-14. Decanted 5 hours.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
