FG58, originally α = alpha. Red-brown 30% opaque. Nose perfume and burnt rubber. Slightly acrid, and candy. Short ending. Later perfume on palate, that perfume continuing into a longer ending.

Fonseca Guimaraes 1958. Dark brick colour. Ripe cherry flavours with a touch of olives, a bit of mould. Thin mouth and not very integrated. Misses a bit of tannin to handle the sweetness.

Pale reddish-orange colour, gold rim; 30% opaque. Aged, oxidised nose, softly plastic; spirity. Thick texture, sweet impact with lovely rose and honey flavours. Terrific development on the palate - gets thicker and more impressive with a lovely sweet honey at the late palate. Sharp acidity on the aftertaste before a big and powerful finish that fills the entire mouth with flavours and lasts for ages. Wonderful experience, but lacking slightly in acidity to provide good structure with the result it is slightly flabby. Served blind, guessed to be the Warre. Alpha. 85/100. Drunk 03-Jun-14. Decanted 3 hours.
