N58, originally γ = gamma. Red-brown. Nose and burnt rubber. Palate burnt, slightly caramelised ending. Later, more burnt.

Noval 1958. Brick colour. On the nose it is a bit close, with the va showing up. Matured, evolved and a bit oxidized, more Colheita than Vintage. Thyme in a bottle of Port.

Pale brown rim, light red/brown centre; 20% opaque. Surprisingly metallic nose of iron filings - promising an oxidised wine. Pine and antiseptic on the palate, making the flavours sharp and unattractive. Dry, gently tannic aftertaste and finish. Nice length. Presumably a spoiled bottle. Served blind this was guessed to be the Burmester. Gamma. 78/100. Drunk 03-Jun-14. Decanted 3 hours.

Slight VA on the nose, which didn't quite go away although didn't overpower and spoil enjoyment too much. Good finish nonetheless
