2008 Quinta do Crasto LBV

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Served by the glass at the Leander Club in Henley.

Deep crimson and opaque. Slightly sour cherry I the nose - sour enough to make the mouth water in anticipation. Warm and poised entry; restrained fruit, soft tannin and powerful acidity. Under all this is a strong chocolate tone that supports a delightfully delicate and fragrant fruit. Slightly too much acidity on the aftertaste but this quickly fades to leave the very long sour cherry that hangs around for a long time. Very nice port. 86/100. Drunk 5 June 2014.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
