2008 Fonseca LBV

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Smelly nose of unattractive, bruised fruit. Dark magenta in colour with an opaque centre. Initially provides a dirty impression of bruised fruit and balanced tannins, but the tannins fade quickly. Nice complexity on the late palate as the tannins fade to leave the over-ripe fruit. Lovely chewy aftertaste and finish. Good length but suffers from over-ripe and jammy fruit. 82/100. Drunk 03-Jun-14.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
