Bought from Berry Brothers. Dark red in colour, with a brown edge - not really bricking. Terrific nose of fruit and pine cones, really interesting and dusty smelling. Lovely mouth-feel, rich and smooth and full of flavour. Restrained but powerful with a big mouthful of complex flavours and fierce acidity. The tannins are dry and firm and support layer after layer of rich fruit and Christmas spice. Hot aftertaste from the powerful acidity but then a massive wave of fruit cake and intense licorice. This is a great bottle of Port that drinks really well now but promises a great future. 93/100. Drunk 10-Jun-14. Pop 'n' pour.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
