2011 Quinta de la Rosa

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Waitrose selection 2011 vintage port. Deep red with clear purple tones. Huge nose of blacucrrants, very concentrated and powerful. Concentrated fruit on the entry, the powerful balckcurrant dominates again but lies over a core of pronounced tannins and good acidity. A big mouthfull with the tannins being very persistent. Slightly sour and acidic aftertaste before the big flavour of blackcurrant takes over again, very slowly fading to the dark chocolate that indicates fine, ripe tannins. Good port. 90/100. 24-Jul-14. Decanted 36 hours.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
