Dark for its age, easily on par with the ports from 1970. Aromatic and ethereal on the nose with red fruit, vanilla and brandy notes. Really pleasant mouthfeel, palate coating silkyness, good amount of fruit remaining and then that lovely heat. Long aftertaste.

A very good port, remarkably so when considering the shipper and the vintage. 93 points.

Mid red in colour, with a mature rose rim; 50% opaque. Lovely sweet nose providing a perfect combination of generous spice and luxurious fruit-cake. Sweet fruit dominates the palate, with a lovely balance - sweet and luscious fruit but with a wonderful nutmeg spice to it. Big and powerful on the aftertaste, initially full of heat but the a fabulous long, red licorice and white pepper finish. Great texture and still with noticeable tannins and a distinct spice. Very sweet and sticky (in a good way) at the end of the finish. Very fine port. Served blind this was guessed to be Niepoort 1970. 91/100. Drunk 29-Jul-14. 6½ hours double decanted.

Was enjoying the port very much by now, so TNs getting more sparse!

40% opacity, red. In the mouth, red berries, clean and fresh, honeycomb. Very clean and smooth on the palate, sweetness then a long long chocolate finish. Very nice indeed.

You know that was exactly my thought.

But it looks like baga/jeripoga triumphed again.

That's jeropiga. But I like your version more.
