1985 Taylor's LBV (Magnum)
Opened 4 days ago, this note taken from a 750ml that was re-filled from the Magnum and kept in the fridge.
First thing to report about this one is that despite 18 years in the bottle there was not a single trace of sediment on decanting.
The wine is still extremely dark, although showing signs of browning. The nose is a very attractive red cherry with no spirit. Mouthfeel is thick and chewy with a weight and substence I would expect from a decent, youngish VP. Lots of fruit and anicede flavour and a surprising amount of tannic dryness.
Score: 5-6
