1994 Churchill

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Bought from Davy's Exchange at Woolgate. Mid red in coloour with a rose coloured rim; 50% opaque. Looking approachable and in early maturity. Mature rose hips and sweet redcurrent with a hint of autumn leaves on the nose; inviting and attractive. Pleasant mouthfeel and a modest body with fully fragrant redcurrant fruit. Soft tannins persist but most of the structure comes from the high (but balanced) levels of acidity. Over all of this are enormous levels of floral tones. Delicious finish and aftertaste, with the lingering finish being full of bitter raspberries and sweet milk chocolate. Very pleasant port. 88/100. Drunk 11-Sep-14. Decanted 2 hours.
