Level into neck, but removing the foil revealed a cork protruding by 1.5mm. Executive decision: decanting delayed.

RP70 decanted 17:20. Cork in several pieces.

Lovely red colour. Dry plum nose. Looks promising.

Removal of the capsule showed a cork that was protruding slightly.

RP70, decanted 17:00. Lovely red, 30% opaque. Nose of red cherry, perhaps maraschino. Palate with soft sweet maraschino cherry; slightly dry, heat mid-palate. Very lovely.

Decanted 1¾ hours. 30% opacity, red brown. Strange sharp nose with vegetable. Mild heat and acidity, sweet and syrupy. Good fruit and acidity just in balance. Pleasant, but not a blockbuster.

Deep rose chestnut colour, 20-30% opaque. A little spiritous on the nose; a smell of table, but a good table. This was great in the mouth - very close to the 1931 in mouthfeel. Quite velvety but then a bitterness enters, a sharpness: but quite within the limits of balance.

Rich burnished red, 40% opaque. Delicious fruity nose, mandarin concentrate growing from the glass. A nice texture on the palate, spicy and very peppery. A lovely concentrated fruit, rich and very flavoursome palate. Quite powerful and dense. A sweet and concentrated aftertaste and a sticky finish. A little too sweet for my taste. Ervamoira had not been acquired and so the main grapes came from Bom Retiro. 88/100. Drunk 21-Oct-14. Decanted 4 hours.
