RP83 decanted 13:15. Cork easily extracted whole. Red, maybe slightly dark, and 50% opaque. Nose muted. Palate has dark fruit, good length, mid weight. Showing nicely.

RP83, decanted 13:15. Dark dark red, 80% opaque. Dark plums in the nose. Palate starts dry. Big dry fruit. Very dry. good length, but faded faster than the ’80 and ’82.

Decanted 6 hours. 70% opacity, slightly cloudy dark red. Nose a little stewey. In the mouth, maybe a hint of VA, a little acidic. Short to the finish. Despite these seemingly negative notes, I really liked this port. It weaved back and forward with the 1982 as to which of them I preferred. Plenty going on with this port and will be interesting to try again in future years.

Deep ruby, with a narrow pink rim, 60%. A big nose, mainly red and black fruit. Jellyish, soft entry. A jammy bitterness grows, with some very slight peppery tannins at the close.

60,000 bottles produced. Deep red and mature in appearance, a very deep centre; 95% opaque. Empty nose, a bit of harsh fruit—not very attractive. Supple on the palate with tannins faded and soft. Fruit is hard and restrained with a bitterness to it that is rather distracting. A touch brutal. Nice fruit driven aftertaste and a pleasant fruity finish. Rather a hard and extracted wine; not as pleasant at this tasting as the '82. 87/100. Drunk 21-Oct-14. Decanted 8 hours.
