RP85 decanted 13:05. Cork very wet, extracted whole, branded Ramos Pinto 1985 (no hyphen).

Bright red, 40% opaque. Nose red cherries. Palate bright and fresh, fruit like nose, some cloying stickiness, and in good shape.

RP85, decanted 13:05. Dark dark red, 80% opaque. Nose had more structure than fruit. Palate lighter than the ’80/’82/’83.

The RP85 bought in 2007 from Vickers Liquors was richer and bigger. Is this bottle variation, or is it time to be drinking most of one’s stocks of RP85? If the latter task, you may be sure that my household is well ahead on that task.

Decanted 6 hours. 80% opacity dark red. No notes on the nose. In the mouth, thin and light compared to the 80/82/83. But some chocolate in there and it has good balance. Perfectly nice port to drink and I'm sure it will develop further. Look forward to another bottle in a few years.

Deep ruby with a hint of lighter pink, narrow rim, about 60% opaque. A nose very similar to the 83; fruit. This had no tannin at all, very drinkable, very soft, very lovely, but no grip.

Mature red colour, deep red but with some bricking; 90% opaque. Dusty nose with attractive candied fruit. Sweet fruit entry with a lovely ripe tannic structure giving a full, rich mouthfeel that feels like a mouthful of quality chocolate. Dry tannins and lots of fruit on the finish. Great length of lovely chewy sweet fruit. Nice port with a lot more development ahead of it. 91/100. Drunk 21-Oct-14. Decanted 8½ hours.
