1995 Warre Unfiltered LBV
This has been hanging around on Death Row for so long that it had to be opened. I was looking for something not too precious but readily drinkable and nice. This fitted the bill beautifully.
Decanted from having been upright since the beginning of eternity and threw half a glass of murky stuff. Not particularly twiggy but definitely silty.
Served slightly cool.
Colour is a nice deep ruby but doesn't seem too thick. Nose is heavy on summer fruits, particularly raspberries with some strawberries as well.
Hell this is fruity. Those raspberries are really nice in the mouth but dominate everything. This is the sort of Port you could give to kids to convert them. Tannins are present but do not dominate and the acid backs up the fruit. Finish is light but hangs around at the back of the class making witty comments.
Immensely enjoyable Port but not got the elegance nor backbone that the 1992 and 1994 had. Will probably stay enjoyable for quite a few years yet.
Will try again tonight when it should also be a bit warmer.
