1955 Croft

Post by jdaw1 »

On Wednesday 29th October 2014 some obvious suspects (JDAW, DRT, MPM, THRA, IDJ, BMHR, RLC) gathered to test the Board Room in Davy’s at Plantation Place (Mincing Lane EC3R 7BD, +44 20 7621 9878, streetmap.co.uk, maps.google.co.uk, bing.com).

Recalling that we held a small vertical of Croft at The Bung Hole on Monday 16th January 2012, originally for the purpose of testing the then-new location (planning and arrangements, review of the evening as a whole), this Croft theme was repeated.

Decanted 3 hours. 30% opacity, wonderful rich red colour, super clear. Clean, menthol nose, rich and sugary. Smooth entry, then some heat builds. Nicely balanced.

Cr55. Lovely red, 40% opaque. Early palate showing lots of structure, especially acidity. An hour later this was a lovely port, smoothly textured, a distinctive burnt sense in nose and palate, and red fruits.
