1970 Fonseca

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Deep red in colour, a lovely mature red, 70% opaque. Very lively and spicy nose, lots of spice and some sweet, attractive fruit. Poised and balanced entry; generous levels of ripe fruit over a firm tannic and woody core. Lovely layering and complexity. Slightly sticky finish, big and powerful. Very long, very very fine. A powerful port that will be better in the future. 93/100. Drunk 26-Sep-14. Decanted 29 hours.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

F70. Dark red, 70% opaque. Palate fo dark plum; rich; pepper; mid-weight. Lovely balance. Lighter than F70 should be, but beautiful Port.
