1997 Royal Oporto Carvalhas

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Drunk at Carvalhas. Herbaceous leaves and dark cherry fruit on the nose, but subdued. Light bodied on the palate, which is poised and acidic. The palate certainly has plenty of acidity and tannins! Dry tannins and light acidic fruit fight on the lengthy finish. This will probably evolve to be an attractive and elegant wine. 87/100. Drunk 25-Sep-14. Pop 'n' pour.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
