2000 Quinta do Noval

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Deep red, hinting at transparency. Cabbage nose, reductive to me (but Peter S said slightly oxidised and he should know!) Round and velvety texture with soft fruit hiding big tannins and a powerful acidity. The fruit is of slightly jammy red plums but not in a way that detracts. Lovely soicy finish with great persistence. There are lots of elements of a promising future in this fine port. 92/100. Drunk 24-Sep-14. Decanted 4 hours.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
