1994 Quinta do Noval Nacional

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Deep red in colour, some bricking shows on the colour when compared to the 2011. Spicy nose of mature fruit, lots of mixed spices and Christmas cake fruit. Balanced and elegant entry with lovely poise. Rich and fruit driven flavours on the tongue with a wonderful complex spiciness; the elegance on entry stays all the way through. Tannins are soft but combine perfectly with the fruit and helps to deliver a multiple complexity of layers and flavours. Gentle but flavoursome aftertaste and a long, delicious finish. This is a fabulous wine with a long and very promising future. (Served blind.) 98/100. Drunk 24-Sep-14. Decanted 4 hours.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
