Ex-cellars. Deep red in colour, 70% opaque. Rich and complex on the nose, full of mace and syrup-steeped fruit with just a flash of spirit. Balanced, sweet and concentrated fruit on the palate that develops a lovely richness, hot and spicy. Very full of flavour with substantial tannins and surprising youthful vigour to the port and a refreshing fragrance on the late palate. The fragrance runs through the aftertaste and finish with some heat at the start of the finish, but when the heat fades this delivers a long and lovely experience that is full of spiced Christmas cake. Really lovely port that will probably improve slightly over the next decade. 94/100. Drunk 22-Sep-14. Decanted 5 hours.
