1974 Quinta do Noval Colheita (bottled 2005)

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Bottled 2005. Golden brown, slightly hazy, 40% opaque. Powerful VA on the nose with lots of nail varnish. A sweet but lovely mandarin acidity. There is nice development and complexity on the palate with a delicious spiciness and a slight harshness. This leads to a big, long orange finish of good length and a sticky ending. This is nice port, if slightly too sweet. 88/100. Drunk 22-Sep-14. Pop 'n' pour.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

N74C. Soft, very long, with orange peel.

So wine of much fine quality than my tasting note.
