After 3 hours of decanting the overwhelming nose on the 1985 Ferreira was of butterscotch. The color in the glass was medium ruby mixed with purple. On the palate strong vanilla and butterscotch, not overly sweet but slightly tart with a bit of grapefruit or lemon on the finish. It tasted slightly tawny-like and the nose overall was better than the taste. Still a good "everyday" drinking Port with a short 10 second finish.

Was this one of the bottles that was placed into the OWC in an upright position?
