1970 Graham

New Year's Eve and an early resolution - must get better at posting tasting notes. Guilt arises from my reliance on other people's notes when considering decanting times! Thankfully, G70 is a well posted note so I have many notes to refer to. Regrettably, I had to ignore the ones that referred to 'magnum'!

With an expectation of not drinking this until around 11pm, I have decided to decant at around 12pm. The bottle was acquired from Four Walls about 2 years ago and was a lovely cool temperature when it cam out of my 'cellar' (under the stairs in a cardboard box!).

Good choice! Do not worry you will also at one stage write Grahams 1970 Magnum tasting notes...... :lol:

I'm also opening a 1970 Graham tonight, so we will have to compare notes!

I plan to decant mine as soon as I get home from work, which I expect will be no later than 2:00 pm. That should give it 6 hours before dinner (late dinner due to the occasion), and then it can continue to evolve as the new year approaches.

We're drinking Riesling (Leitz, and Loosen Rotschiefer) followed by Camel Valley sparkling followed by Graham 77.

I loved it. Didn't take a note as it wasn't really possible but I remember subtle mousse, a good balanced flavour with prominent but not overbearing acidity, not sharp or sour like some English sparklers used to be, and nice toast. This was the rosé, my sister sent me a bottle of it (she lives at Land's End).
