Deep red with an opaque centre. Restrained nose showing much less than the Fonseca 2003 alongside; some herbaceous tones to the fruit. Balanced entry, a great level of fruit and very powerful tannins. Lovely floral elements that delivery a wonderful and fragrant palate. Powerful yet elegant. An amazing, spicy and lively port. 94/100.

The review thread contains a list of all the ports on show at the 2014 Berry Brothers Port Walk.

I was very impressed by both 03s shown. This port has the lot. So strong, plums, something burnt and floral on the nose, more open than the Fonseca but the palate is tighter. Packed colour too, stuck resolutely to the side of the glass once emptied. I wonder if it was a bit flattened? No, it was fine. I think 94 is where this is heading.

80% opacity, dark red to purple, a little clouded. Nose closed. in the mouth, jam, strawberry, very big fruit and a big tannic finish.

Loved it; not much point me echoing what everyone else has already written, my notes being fairly brief and close to the wise words above. But I thought this was excellent.

My notes simply say: somehow a thin body, nice fruit and tanins, some pepper
