1983 Warre

Post by jdaw1 »

A fantastic Lunch, on Sunday 15th February 2015, at Simpson’s-in-the-Strand, Chris Doty providing the bottles blind.

This is bottle I, later revealed to be 1983 Warre.

W83. At D+0, dark red, 60% opaque. Nose had dark fruit. Palate starts very light, then mid-light, and strange. Even a hint pétillant. Fully mature, but something was wrong.

Could it be a badly stored 1970?

Later, about four hours and some refreshments later, it had grown up. The pétillant had gone, the palate was fuller and richer.
