On Monday 19th January 2015 we gathered in the Red Room of the Boot and Flogger to drink some Fonseca, including a bottle that had been drawn from an imperial on Saturday 17th (discussion).

F55 (IDJ). Brick red, 30%. For my Port palate, too acidic, but for those liking that, good Port underneath.

Mature red, some slight bricking, lovely appearance. Nosing of redcurrants and woodsmoke, powerful and pronounced. Sweet and smooth on the palate; powerful and mouthfilling. Poised and balanced, but very big. Wonderful, long finish; massive and fruity. Very, very fine - really very impressive. Stunningly youthful. 95/100.
