Deep red with a solid core; 70% opaque. Subdued nose, slightly dirty and sharp. Hesitant on entry, slow to deliver but does gradually build up to a deep and luscious rich fruit driven mid-palate that is stunningly concentrated and supported by lovely gentle tannins. The combination delivers a big palate. Some heat lasts and persists through the early finish that is huge, spicy, very lively and massively long. Big port, but pity about the nose. Served blind this was guessed to be Taylor 1977. 90/100. Decanted 12 hours.
