2009 Taylor LBV

Post by griff »

As the only reasonably priced LBV on the Australian market we finally have the 2009 on sale. Dark cherry red that is completely opaque. Rich, dense, chewy palate of cherries with a lick of tannin and slight heat on the finish. Reminds me a little of cough syrup! Definitely intense and I wonder whether a somewhat coarser filtration regimen was employed. Perhaps just the vagaries of the vintage. Good LBV but personally I prefer the violets expressed by the cooler 2008. I suspect my experience aligns more so with the second of Alex's tasting notes.

cheers
