2004 Dalva
Deep red and with no youthful colour tones; opaque. The nose is forward and full of bruised strawberries, very open. The entry is wonderful, slow and stately yet delivering ever increasing amounts of fruit and tannin. Eventually, by the late palate, this gets to be very big and burly with a lot of pepper heat on the late palate from the fine acidity. Fruit and tannins lead the aftertaste and the finish is just astounding. What a very pleasant and unexpected surprise. 94/100. Tasted 05-Mar-15.
