NV Niepoort Crusted 2011

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Bottled 2011. Approximately 7,500 bottles. A blend of 80% of the 2008 vintage and 20% from 2007. Deep red in colour, but with no scarlet, opaque centre. Delicious but faint sweet blackcurrant nose, fresh and clean. Smooth satin texture, then a wonderfully pure and clean blueberry compote fruit flavour with a lovely twist of clover honey. Delicious in its purity yet with generous complexity to give a very impressive palate. Black chocolate aftertaste before a long and huge finish of sweet blackcurrants. This is getting better and better in the bottle. 96/100. Tasted 05-Mar-15.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
