2012 Quinta de Sao Jose

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Quinta de Sao Jose, from Joao Brito e Cunha Lda. Purple, young-looking and 99% opaque. Floral and fruity on the nose; fruity entry with tannins that are initially soft and which gain presence to end up being quite powerful and dominating. There are some lovely floral edges to the fruit and the overall impression is of a nicely constructed mid-weight port. The finish is good and there is an interesting twist of honey towards the tail end of the finish. 90-92/100. Tasted 05-Mar-15.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
